Nurse Talking to Patient

Care Services

Symponia Hospice provides an array of services, as well as an experienced team of healthcare professionals who meet regularly to discuss and implement an individual plan of care tailored to our patient’s wishes.

What is hospice?

Hospice care is based on the philosophy of treating the patient by focusing on their quality of life and symptom management when curative measures are no longer available or desired. Hospice care helps to ensure patients are pain-free, surrounded, comforted and at peace as they transition.

We offer three distinct services that cater to our patient’s needs.

Each service varies in terms of where hospice service is provided and the level of care the patient receives. In addition, we also offer palliative care. We are honored to serve patients in the Barrow, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Rockdale and Walton counties.

Routine Care

Home Nurse Examining Patient

Get routine home care in the comfort of wherever you call home; whether that be at your home, an assisted living facility, personal care home or nursing home. Our professional team will develop an individual plan of care and schedule regular home visits to ensure that your medical, social and emotional needs are met.

Inpatient or

Continuous Care

Some patients experience symptoms that are temporarily too difficult to be managed by the caregiver. In these situations, short-term management can occur in a general inpatient unit (hospital like setting), or through around-the-clock home care. After the symptoms are under control, the patient is returned to routine care.

Respite Care

Are you a caregiver in need of relief? Symponia Hospice's respite care is available when caregivers need a rest from their responsibilities. We also cater to patients who stay in a facility with 24-hour nursing care for five days. Our staff can even provide care and companionship for your loved one while you run errands or simply get the relief and support you need.

Palliative Care

Healing Arts

You may enjoy visits from our board-certified music therapist or our certified massage therapist. Music and massage therapy can facilitate relaxation, reduce clinical issues such as pain or anxiety, improve mood, and allow self-expression.

Music Therapy

Music Therapy

Music relaxes the mind and soothes the soul. Symponia Hospice offers complimentary music therapy service to help meet the physical, emotional and psychological needs of our hospice patients. Music therapy is a source of comfort and expression, which is inclusive of both the patient and their caregiver.

To get started, our board-certified music therapist visits patient homes and provides a music therapy assessment. She then develops an individualized plan catered to each patient's unique needs. Through singing, guitar, piano and other instruments, we give our patients emotional support and help enhance their quality of life.

Therapeutic Massage

Since Symponia Hospice treats the whole person - body, mind and spirit, therapeutic massage is one of our services we offer to our patients. Our certified massage therapist specializes in injury therapy and uses therapeutic touch to help improve quality of life for our patients by:

  • Easing pain and discomfort

  • Providing stress and anxiety relief

  • Improving mobility

  • Enhance overall well-being

Grief Support

Grief Support

Navigating through grief can be a difficult journey, yet it's a vital step towards healing from the loss of a loved one. Remember, grieving is a natural response to loss, and it's okay to feel the weight of emotions. We all cope with grief differently, and sometimes need a little help coping with the absence of a cherished family member or friend.

Symponia Hospice is here to support you every step of the way. Through our Grief Support program, we offer gentle ways to navigate through this process together. Our call-in support group is led by our experienced Bereavement Coordinator and our compassionate team.

Get the support you need. Connect with our team every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. ET by calling 617-769-8066 to connect with our team.

Veterans
We Honor Veterans
We Honor Veterans

We are proud to participate in the National Hospice and Palliative Care’s We Honor Veterans Program. We educate our staff and volunteers on veterans’ unique end-of-life needs.

We strive to recognize each veteran enrolled in our care by showing appreciation for their service to our country. We are often joined on these special visits by active duty personnel from the various branches of the armed service. Whenever possible, we assign volunteers who are veterans to patients who are also veterans. And, as always, our Story Keeper is available to gather the veteran’s life story.
