Symponia Hospice Music Therapy Internship
At Symponia Hospice, our heartfelt mission is rooted in a profound commitment to compassion and care. That's why we take extra care to support our patients through wellness services, such as our Music Therapy Program.
We're now accepting enrollment for our Summer 2025 Music Therapy Internship Program.
Our music therapy interns function as a member of the Symponia Hospice interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, social workers, chaplains and volunteers. Eligible applicants include individuals who are completing coursework for a music therapy bachelor's degree or music therapy equivalency degree from a National Roster American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) accredited university.
Once accepted, our intern receives music and clinical supervision in humanistic hospice music therapy from a masters-level hospice music therapist. The intern will lead and co-lead sessions for hospice patients and bereaved clients. Most sessions are individual, but group and family settings are common.
A final project comprised of a program proposal is required. The final project encourages growth in public speaking, business, and interviewing skills. The internship is designed to help the intern become fully proficient and confident in hospice music therapy skills by the completion date.
Music Therapy Program Support
Our hospice Music Therapy Program is an essential aspect of our holistic approach to care.
Through the power of soul-soothing melodies, our Music Therapy Program aims to bring moments of tranquility and joy to hospice patients and their families. The therapeutic benefits of music are undeniable, as it can ease pain, reduce anxiety, and create precious connections between patients and their loved ones.
Applying for an Internship
